About UMRAH

Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike Hajj, which has specific dates. Though not obligatory, Umrah holds great spiritual value and is highly recommended in Islam. It is considered a way to seek Allah’s blessings, forgiveness, and purification of sins.

The pilgrimage consists of several key rituals. First, pilgrims enter the state of Ihram by wearing simple white garments and making the intention for Umrah. They then perform Tawaf, which involves circling the Kaaba seven times in a counterclockwise direction while praying and supplicating to Allah. After Tawaf, pilgrims perform Sa’i, walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, commemorating Hagar’s search for water for her son, Ishmael. Finally, men either shave or trim their hair, while women cut a small portion, marking the completion of Umrah.

Proper planning is necessary for Umrah, including obtaining a visa, arranging travel, and learning about the rituals. While Umrah does not replace Hajj, it is a highly meritorious act that brings immense spiritual rewards and a closer connection to Allah for those who undertake it sincerely.
